Strategies for reducing emissions and methane burning in Mexico -2016
2016
Abstract
One of the most important measures for addressing climate change is to reduce methane emissions, which is the second most important greenhouse effect gas after carbon dioxide.
In Mexico methane emissions are vast and there are many cost-effective opportunities to reduce them, as they should be an important part of the national strategy on Climate Change. Internationally there are numerous initiatives and efforts to eliminate leakage and minimize methane emissions, and technologies and effective strategies to this end have been developed; therefore it is convenient and appropriate to analyze them and adopt those that suit Mexico.
This project provides specic proposals to cost-effectively decrease CH4 emissions in the country and thus contribute to Mexico achieving its international commitments to address climate change.
